Art incarcerated’s mission was to help every artist in prison share their story. The people that wrote in weren’t proud of the crimes they’d committed. But when someone in prison becomes a contributing citizen, everyone benefits. There are a number of barriers that need to be overcome in order for that to happen. Some of those barriers exist in our environment, perhaps in the form of laws, and other barriers exist in our minds — minds inside and outside prison. Art Incarcerated was built to help break down the barriers in our minds.
